The quarter where the daily log reigns supreme!

The first quarter of 2025 is over, and now seems like a good time as any to review my planner system. How did I start? Where am I know? And how’s it going? Ideally, I’d be fully settled into my planner by now, right?

In December 2024, I moved into my 2025 Hobonichi Weeks Mega. I bought it last October while vacationing in Japan, and I was all-in on the Weeks. Things were going well through December and into January. I was using the weekly layout for my trackers and as a weekly overview. The note pages in the back were for bullet journal-esque daily logs.
Unfortunately, after I returned from vacation at the start of February, things went downhill. The Hobonichi Weeks wasn’t working out. I was updating the weekly layout, but I rarely used the note pages for my daily logs and found myself wishing I did as I was getting forgetful. In the end, the issue was that the Hobonichi Weeks size was too constraining. I needed a bigger page for my thoughts to flow better. (Does anyone else ever encounter this issue?)

Which finally brings me to what I’m using now: the Traveler’s Company traveler’s notebook.
In March, I moved into a Traveler’s Company x Baum-kuchen grid insert for my traveler’s notebook for daily logs. (I’m currently using the Tokyo Station edition cover, in case you were wondering.) The new system quickly took, and I found myself filling pages with my daily logs, brainstorm/brain dump entries, and the occasional quote. I didn’t touch my Hobonichi Weeks at all and rarely used a weekly layout. Being in a larger notebook was freeing for my daily logging, and I’m enjoying it immensely.
So for April, I’ll be adding in the Traveler’s Company weekly insert (#019) to my TN system. This will essentially make my traveler’s notebook a larger version of the Hobonichi Weeks. Perhaps, I’ll go back to the Weeks if life calms down, and I have less to write in my daily logs. However, for now, the TN system is perfect.
Oh! I should also mention that I use an A5 Kokuyo Campus monthly calendar for my monthly overview. I was using an A5 Peanuts monthly calendar at the start of the year, but moved into the Kokuyo Campus mainly because the paper could handle fountain pens unlike the Peanuts calendar. How I’m using it hasn’t changed, though.
So that’s what my planner system looked like for the first quarter of the year! Things are still quite stressful at my day job, but at least, my planner system is solid at the moment. Hopefully, things will continue to be that way for the rest of year. fingers crossed
What are you using for your planner or bullet journal this year? Has anything in your system changed since January?
I'm usually not the type to comment but I appreciate your post and just wanted to say I adore your handwriting. I love both styles of font. 🙂 and I enjoyed reading your blog.🙂Thank you
